DARK DECADENCE TOUR 2011

HARDCORE SUPERSTAR, THE 69 EYES, CRASHDIET

SWEDEN, STOCKHOLM, 16.04.2011.

While winter slowly gave away place to another spring in overall European media space resonated the news of a joined tour of Swedes Hardcore Superstar and Crashdiet and one and only The 69 Eyes.
And then the life decided to tangle its fingers in perfectly made plan and beside some business obligations and tragedies in the family move another meeting with The 69 Eyes from London to Italy and then from Italy to Stockholm.
Stockholm, on Friday afternoon, calm, sunny, full of spring energy which is ready to explode finally brought a ray of positive mood in my gloomy thoughts additionally exhausted by airports and number of flights. Already that after so many effort I managed to escape from the 'city of despair' in which Zagreb turned lately due to some set of circumstances was a dose of strength which was from minute to minute waking the adrenaline that in the center of veins and hart won't be launched by the beautiful night view on Stockholm sometime after midnight or even sunny panorama of Swedish capital on crowdy Saturday morning but something that will take me, in the early afternoon hours, to Swedish royal (zoo) park where is placed also impressive concert hall named Cirkus.
Cirkus was, on April 16, 2011 the last stop of 'Dark Decadence' tour and the last chance to see The 69 Eyes in company of great Swedish sleazy rockers Hardcore Superstar and their glam rock compatriots Crashdiet. And while the setlist in my head was made by songs taken from the latest album of sleazy Sweds I knew the highlight of Saturday on the European North are going to be minutes in which The 69 Eyes will come out on the stage and again, at least for a while, make everything disappear. Everything but - music. That very same music that is so often driving force to get out of the bed in the morning and crawl through every day hoping that notes supported by the dose of darkness and vampire bite will soon again loudly pulse the veins and run straight to the heart. The 69 Eyes, leading band of European gothic rock scene, never denied its sleazy rots and exactly because of that the expectations reached the top sometimes around 19:00. As, let's be honest, surprisingly, Finns have given their headlining position to Swedes and in front of Swedish audience appeared already at 19:20 h.
With the, all fans would agree, too short set they did an excellent overview of album "Devils" and "Angels" with some supplements. So the pandemonium on the stage started with intro song taken from "True Blood" series, Jace Everett's ' I Wanna Do Bad Things With You'  while the audience called frontman Jyrki69 to appear on the stage. When they took their position on the impressive huge stage of Cirkus, The 69 Eyes started with "Devils" that instantly moved audience to rise their "horns" in the air following Jyrki's voice and joining him in the refrain: "you cannot replace your devils!". Enthusiastic support from the audience senses during the next one, "Never Say Die" while "Perfect Skin" caused the real energy flow in both directions, from the audience on the stage and from the stage on the audience. "Sister Of Charity" briefly calmed down the passion while the final "Dead Girls Are Easy", "Brandon Lee" and "Lost Boys" presented the full diversity of The 69 Eyes' world, from vampire seductive and dark romantic to the one with sleazy rock overtones.
Neither Crashdiet or Hardcore Superstar after they left the stage couldn't stir the adrenaline as "Sister of Charity" or "Brandon Lee" and awaken memories and feelings that will always belong the years behind us, but also those ahead us.  Cirkus proved once again that The 69 Eyes are unique blend of personalities that evokes the emotional level more than any other band can evoke. That's why is probably the line which marked the leaving from always and again beautiful Stockholm refreshed by the Sunday sun and breeze was: "Thank you for the morning walks on the sweet sunset and for the hot night moments."
Until next time!
